(Christmas) We Left The Light On

ABOUT THIS SONG

Somebody is still out on the road at Christmas. The porch light stays on.

LYRICS

Somewhere a train is running late
Somebody's watching the garden gate
Somebody's setting an extra plate
Christmas is coming home

Leave the light on, leave it burning
Somebody's out there still returning
However far the road has gone
Come on home, we left the light on

The years go quick, the miles go long
We lose the words but we keep the song
Whatever's right, whatever's wrong
Christmas is coming home

Leave the light on, leave it burning
Somebody's out there still returning
However cold the night has grown
Come on home, we left the light on

There's a chair that no one takes
There's a name that nobody says
But the candle in the window stays
For every soul that strayed

So pour the coffee, cut the pie
Hold the ones you're standing by
And when they ask you how or why
Just say the light was on

Leave the light on, leave it burning
Every heart out there is turning
However late, however long
Come on home, we left the light on

Come on home, we left the light on

ABOUT "(CHRISTMAS) WE LEFT THE LIGHT ON"

"(Christmas) We Left The Light On" is an original country Christmas song written and recorded by Chad Sanders, an independent country music artist and songwriter from Alabama.

Somebody is still out on the road at Christmas. The porch light stays on.

Fans of outlaw country will find something real in this track, the kind of honest storytelling Chad Sanders is known for across his original catalog.

Chad Sanders writes and records from the perspective of someone rooted in North Alabama, North Alabama specifically, in the heart of Marshall County. His music reflects life as it actually is in small-town America, not as it's packaged for radio.

Released in November 2022, "(Christmas) We Left The Light On" is available to stream on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, and YouTube Music. Preview it here at ChadSandersOfficial.com before you stream.
