(Christmas) Christmas Time

ABOUT THIS SONG

Cotton in the field instead of snow, every chair filled, and the missing names said out loud.

LYRICS

The Cold snap came in on a Friday night
Cotton in the fields still shinin' white
Grandma's window's got a candle glow
Closest thing we get down here to snow

It's Christmas time, sweet and slow
Warm as the kitchen, soft as the snow we'll never know
Take your hat off, honey, come on in
It's Christmas time, so glad to see you again

Turkey on the table, sweet tea in a jar
Every chair filled from near and far
Bless the food and bless the ones who came
Somebody's always missing, still we say their name

It's Christmas time, sweet and slow
Candles in the window, radio soft and low
Take your hat off, honey, come on in
It's Christmas time, so glad to see you again

Little ones fall asleep before the pie
Front porch swing and a red-clay sky
Ain't a thing out there that we need to chase
Everything we're wishin' for is in this place

It's Christmas time, sweet and slow
Warm as the kitchen, soft as the snow we'll never know
Take your hat off, honey, come on in
It's Christmas time, so glad to see you again

Y'all stay a while, the night's still young
It's Christmas time, the sweetest one
